Personal Journey
What inspired you to transition from your initial career to becoming an author?
My main profession as an Oceanographer remains central to my identity. A few years ago, I discovered the renowned authors Blanka Lipinska and J.K. Rowling, which inspired me to pursue writing alongside my primary career. My extensive travels as an oceanographer and researcher have fueled my creativity, and I find myself restless during idle periods. Consequently, I began writing on various topics, including science, self-help, and storytelling.
How have your experiences in the public eye influenced your writing?
The relationship between personal experiences and creative expression is a significant theme in my writing. My work is fundamentally anchored in the everyday stressors and challenges we all face. By focusing on these shared human experiences, I aim to offer readers a sense of comfort and connection, as they see their own struggles reflected in my words. I frequently tap into the emotional depth of personal crises, societal pressures, and the complexities of both individual and collective journeys. Additionally, my passion for the oceans serves as a recurring metaphor for life's unpredictable nature. Just like the tides can bring both tranquillity and turmoil, my writing delves into the contrasts of emotion—serenity and chaos, optimism and despair.
Writing Process
What is your typical day like when you're immersed in writing a book?
I typically write on my laptop during weekends or late at night because of my work commitments. I begin by reflecting on my book before diving into the writing process. I used to experience all the emotions beforehand, which makes me contemplate each topic and sentence thoroughly. Writing in crowded or noisy environments is not something I can do.
How do you balance your writing with your other professional commitments?
I carry significant responsibilities both at work and in my personal life. Just as I strive to keep my professional and personal worlds separate, I make sure that the stress from one doesn't affect my writing. I typically write my book late at night after 10 PM and during the weekends.
About the Books
What inspired the story behind your latest book?
My debut book, "Glimpse of the Oceanography," serves as a valuable resource for grasping the fundamental concepts of ocean science. It delves into various topics related to the ocean, such as the world's oceans, marine habitats, marine life, and coral reefs. This book is beneficial for a diverse audience, including researchers, conservationists, students, and anyone interested in oceanography or marine biodiversity.
My most recent publication is a self-help book titled "Happiness All Yours in 30 +1 Days." This book emphasizes that happiness is about experiencing joy in everyday life, which can help alleviate the stress stemming from daily pressures at home or work. It offers simple steps to manage job responsibilities and achieve goals that once caused stress, ultimately enhancing productivity and fostering happiness in your life. The aim is to cultivate joy in your home, workplace, and overall life in just 30 + 1 days.
How much of your personal life and experiences is reflected in your characters and plot?
My life experiences have greatly shaped the characters and stories in both of my books, which are from different genres. My most recent work is a self-help book that offers simple, everyday steps for improving life, along with key insights on managing stress.
What message or themes do you hope readers take away from your book?
The message is: "Happiness is in your hand, start to read this book; you may find a happy lifestyle"
Reader Engagement
How do you connect with your readers and fans on a personal level?
I'm still in a waiting game, primarily through social media and emails. I'm active on Facebook and Instagram, where I connect with my readers, but my book hasn't quite reached a broader audience yet. So, I'm eagerly anticipating feedback from readers.
Future Projects
Can you give us a sneak peek into any upcoming projects or books you're working on?
I want to share a sneak peek at my upcoming projects. My next book will explore the love story of two unique individuals from contrasting backgrounds and personalities.
What goals or aspirations do you have for your future as an author?
At this point, I don't have any particular goals as an author. I simply enjoy writing and connecting with readers who share my interests, which is what truly matters to me. However, I would be thrilled if some of my works were adapted into web series or films. I'm open to discussions about how that could happen if anyone is interested.
How do you envision your writing evolving over the next few years?
As I age, there's an expectation for me to grow in maturity, and I believe my writing will reflect that growth. This could manifest in how I approach topics, structure my pieces, or explore different genres in my work.
Personal Reflections
How do you unwind and relax when you're not writing or working?
Speaking truthfully, I have several activities to do in a day and such a lifestyle does not allow excessive relaxation. Combining these two aspects: devotion to my work and devotion to my family is not that easy and usually makes me feel quite under pressure. But I try to avoid such havoc and squeeze a little free time for myself every now and then, even if I am very busy.
A beach is one of the places that I find comforting. I don’t know what it is about the beach, but it just clears my head so quickly as if magic. Watching the sea waves go back and forth in the beach, feeling the nice heat of the sand in my feet, and looking at the water-filled horizon are all comforting and revitalizing.
Whenever I go somewhere near the sea, a sense of calmness always follows me, and it is an amazing way to take a break from the stressful aspects of everyday life. Be it Beach chairs clad with good books under their occupants, or taking a walk alongside the beach, or even staring off into the endless sea for some moments, all of these enjoyable activities within the confined beach area helps me replenish and reinstate myself back to normal. However my longing to relax all the Afor asked myself is the most sacred thing I have ever been to the beach as it has since most people quite too Velvet London Life stress took over and clean, fresh air became rare.
What book (by another author) has had the most significant impact on you and why?
If I had to choose two names immediately, I would immediately mention famous Blanka Lipinska, who was known mainly for the versatility in Polish film- not least the 365 days series Another author who still inspires me with his work is J.K. Rowling, the author of the legendary story of Harry Potter. Up to now, I have written two book in totally different directions: a ‘Glimpse of the Oceanography”, about ocean studies and the second “Happiness All Yours in 30+1 Days’, a motivational book for the audience.
The story of Dr. Shuchi Bhatt, who, from within the folds of a marine biologist goes on to reach the heights of a writer, speaks highly of the potent combination offered by curiosity and creativity. Her exceptional, self-help and scientific writing is seamlessly fused to produce an appropriate contribution to Indian literature. With the exploration of new themes and genres still ahead of her, she is bound to produce work that will move, teach and change people not only in India but throughout the world.
