Gothic atmosphere wraps the whole thing in a satisfying gloom. This is a standalone novel, so there's no waiting for sequels, and it delivers a proper happy ending with no infidelity and no loose threads left dangling. If arranged marriage, enemies-to-lovers tension, and a possessive anti-hero are your preferred reading territory, it's a confident, entertaining entry in the genre.
