Jujutsu Kaisen follows Yuji Itadori, a teenager who swallows a cursed demon's remains to protect a friend, only to find himself dragged into a brutal, sprawling conflict between sorcerers and supernatural forces far beyond his control. Volume 27 wastes absolutely no time on breathing room. Gojo's defeat still hangs heavy over everything, and before anyone can begin to process that seismic loss, Kashimo steps up to face Sukuna directly. It's a bold move, but the question looming over every panel is whether courage alone is anywhere near enough once the King of Curses finishes his transformation. The tension here is genuinely unsettling. Shifting gears entirely, the volume also gives us Takaba squaring off against Kenjaku in a one-on-one confrontation that feels wildly different in tone. Takaba's identity as a performer makes for a strange, almost surreal kind of battle, and Akutami leans right into that dissonance. It shouldn't work as well as it does, yet somehow it absolutely does. This is a volume that keeps its foot firmly on the accelerator.
